Pipe Bursting

Pipe Upsizing

The process of pipe upsizing can be used to increase the diameter of existing pipelines, thereby enhancing the capacity without the need to first remove the old pipes.

This process is recommended over size-for-size replacement of pipelines because it is:

• Less intrusive and disruptive to the built environment

• Trench free

• Quick and efficient

• Cost effective

Pipe Reaming

This process is recommended for the upsizing of large diameter pipelines by means of horizontal directional drilling processes. The existing pipe acts as the conduit for drill rods, which are followed by a reamer, which then enlarges the bore according to the size requirements for the new pipes and creates a tunnel for the installation of the new product pipeline.

This creation of a tunnel, rather than displacing the surrounding soil (as with conventional upsizing), ensures that surface heaving is eliminated.
